

The college has a career counselling unit running actively and successfully since 1999. This was an effort ventured into by the college to infuse a sense of career consciousness amongst the students in this world of cut-throat competition.The cell basically imparts training in spoken english, prepare the students for group discussion (GD) and interview. Placement services have also been started on a successful note. Our students have been placed in multi-national organisations like WIPRO (Kolkata), IBM (Gurgaon), TCS, and Win-Medicare Pvt. Ltd. (Kolkata), COGNIZANT (Chennai). Our Cell has formal tie up with WIPRO BPO. Further, from this effort has been made by cell for placement in Nationalised Banks.
The Cell organised a workshop for Higher Secondary students in collaboration with the Govt. of Assam. Dr. Manab Deka from the Department of Statistics and Mr. Apurba Kr. Das from the Department of Physics act as the Coordinators.
The college has a cell for academic and a personal counselling. Students are encouraged to approach the Cell for counselling regarding their academic and personal problems. Dr. Anuradha Baroowa, Head, Department of Education acts as the Convener of this Cell .
The College has an IQAC to monitor the internal quality of the college and suggest measures for improvement. The Cell helps the stakeholders to set up goals and achieve the target on annual basis.
The Cell helps the institution to surge ahead along the road map. Annual reports of the College are prepared and uploaded by IQAC. The Cell organises seminars and workshops for betterment of the faculty.
Dr. Gitanjali Hazarika from the Department of Assamese acts as the Coordinator. The Principal is the Chairperson of IQAC.
The college has a total strength of 210 N.C.C. cadets comprising one Company of 1 Assam BN. N.C.C. and a troop of 60 Assam girls’ BN. N.C.C. The cadets have made the college proud by representing the North Eastern Region in different national level camps and N.C.C. activities in many parts of the country. Many of our cadets have represented the nation in prestigious international meets as part of Youth Exchange Programme (YEP). By obtaining ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates, a sizeable numbers of cadets has enrolled themselves in different grades of the three services of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Para-Military Forces, State Police Service and different administrative service posts including IAS and IPS.
The Cadets are committed to programmes of Community Development and are also involved in YEP. Further various aspects of Personality Development, Adventure programmes are imparted to the Cadets. Additionally, firing with 7.62 mm SLR Carbine Machine Gun, Map reading etc. are also taught under different programmes of NCC of the College. While Dr. Ajay Kumar Das from the Department of Botany acts as the CTO of 1 Assam Bn NCC, Dr. Dalimi Devi from the Department of Library officiates as the CTO of 60 Assam Girls’ Bn NCC.
The National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) is an organisation which provides opportunity to students to develop their personality through community service. The motto of the National Service Scheme is ‘NOT ME, BUT YOU’. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society as a whole. The college has a strong and vibrant N.S.S. unit which has been rendering various community services. The Volunteers play an active part in keeping the college campus clean and pollution free. Under the banner of the N.S.S. Unit of the College campus are organized in nearby rural areas to carry out Community Development activities.
Dr. Biren Das of the Mathematics Department acts as the Programme Officer of NSS Unit.
The Arya Mountaineers’ and Adventurers’ Circle (AMAC), is an enlisted organization of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi which is giving the flavour of different types of adventure sports to its members by organizing different activities like white water rafting, high altitude trekking, rock climbing, parasailing, mountaineering, canoeing, kayaking etc. time to time. The motto is to introduce the students of the college to adventurism which prepares them to face the challenges of real life. The AMAC is proud to announce that the circle has produced a large numbers of well established mountaineers of national repute from its inception since 1984.
Dr. Ajoy Kumar Das from Department of Botany is the Convener of the Club.
The College has a science club. Scientific Seminars and exhibitions are held from time to time. Dr. Krishna Kingkor Pathak from the Department of Physics is the Convener of Science Club.
There is a Women’s Cell in the College which works towards creating awareness amongst students and teachers about women’s issues and rights. The Cell brings out two annual wall magazines – one by the students and the other by the teachers. It also celebrates annual Girl Child Day and International Women’s Day.

Arya Vidyapeeth College formed a trust named ‘PANDIT GIRIDHAR SARMA TRUST’. The deed of trust is executed by Dr. Girish Ch. Sarma (President of the Governing body of Arya Vidyapeeth College, Guwahati) on 13th April,2018 in the district of Kamrup (Metro), Assam.
