Zubeen Garg Centre for North East Studies

The North Eastern Region of India which comprises of the eight states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Megalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura is a region of abundant natural beauty, a plethora of diverse cultures and customs and historical uniqueness. The progress of the region and its integration to the rest of India has become very essential. There is urgent need for research on various facets of the North East with special emphasis on the challenges faced by the people of the region. The Zubeen Garg Centre for North East Studies set up at Arya Vidyapeeth College 0n 21.07.2021 would be the first of its kind to be set up in an affiliated college other than the ones that were set up at University premises which will cater to the needs of research on the various aspects of the North-East.

As an academic effort, the Zubeen Garg Centre for North East Studies, Arya Vidyapeeth College will take an initiative to promote research on India’s North East in a multifaceted fashion. It will initiate to develop a research environment for the benefit of the young researchers and will also help develop strategic thinking on research on India’s North East.

The Centre also aims to develop a holistic understanding of the region and thereby bring about a national integration among people of the region and other parts of the country.
