Report on Inter School Science Exhibition Competition Envisioning Science and Technology: What Next? held on 28.04.2018, organized by IQAC, Arya Vidyapeeth College, Guwahati-16
A one day Inter School Science Exhibition focusing on the theme of Envisioning Science and Technology: What Next? organized by IQAC, Arya Vidyapeeth College was held on 28.04.2018 at the Guru Nanak College Auditorium. Dr. Pradip kumar Bhattacharyya, Principal, Arya Vidyapeeth College welcomed the chief guest Prof. Pranab Jyoti Das, retired professor and HoD, Dept of Chemistr, the guest of honour, Dr. Pannalal Goswami, retired professor, Cotton College and also the participating teams. Prof Das inaugurated the exhibition cum competition and in his speech emphasized the need for facilitating critical thinking among the students. Dr. Pannalal Goswami, encouraged the participating teams to think out of the box in order to find solutions to the existing problems. Furthermore, he demonstrated a few scientific tricks to make learning science a fun activity. The judges for the competition comprised of Mr. Sumanta Borthakur, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, B. Borooah College, Dr. Jatin Sarma, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Bodoland University and Dr. Tapan Ch. Thakuria, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Handique College. From among the 25 nos. of participating teams Modern English School (A) was adjudged the winner, the second and the third prize respectively went to MVM Senior Secondary School and Axel Public school. Special prizes were awarded to Assam Jatio Bidyalaya (B) and Shankardev Bidya Niketan (A). The inaugural function was anchored by Dr. Papori Devi and the Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Gitanjali Hazarika, co-ordinator, IQAC.
The competition was organized by the IQAC, Arya Vidyapeeth College under the able leadership of a team consisting of Mr. Birenchi Kumar Pegu, Dr. Ditee Moni Baruah and Dr. Niva Rani Devi. Overall the science exhibition cum competition was a grand success.[column col=”1/2″]
