Women’s cell of Arya vidyapeeth college celebrated International women’s day on 8th of March, 2021 with a day long program. The program was started with the inauguration of Wall magazine “Punarikshan” Which was being unveiled by Honorable Vice Principal Ms. Anita Talukder. A talk on “Healthy women, Healthy nation” was delivered by renowned senior gyenocologist of Assam Dr. Nilakshi Phukan Kumar. On the occasion Respected Pricipal of the college, Dr. Pradip kumar Bhattacharyya delivered the welcome speech followed by a short speech by Convener of the Cell Ms. Chhanda Biswas. Dr. Phukan spoke on gender discrimination in family and society which lead to illnhealth of women and how malnourished women gives birth to weaker generation that slower the development process for low productivity. She also told that gender violence in the family is not confined to under privileged class only rather women of elite class also suffer from such violence equally which she has experienced as a doctor. A large number of students and teachers were present in the occasion and a vibrant interaction also have taken place. At the end of the speech Dr. Babesh Das delivered the vote of thanks.

After the speech a quiz competition among the students was held in collaboration with Debate society of the college. 14 teams have participated and the quiz competition was very lively.
