Celebration of Librarian’s Day and Best Library User Award

Commemorating the 132nd birth anniversary of Padma Shri awardee and father of Library in India, Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, Librarian’s Day was celebrated at the Central Library, Arya Vidyapeeth College on the 12th of August, 2024. The programme commenced with a warm and gracious welcome address delivered by Dr. Nibha Devi, Assistant Professor at Arya Vidyapeeth College. Dr. Devi extended her heartfelt greetings to all the attendees, including distinguished guests, faculty members, and students. The event featured an insightful speech by Dr. Gitanjali Hazarika, Associate Professor, Department of Assamese, Arya Vidyapeeth College. She spoke on the topic ‘Reading Habits and their Correlation with Reading Achievements among Learners’ and offered valuable insights and inspiration to the attendees.

The Central Library has been awarding the ‘Best Library User Award’ since 2020. For the 2023-24 session, the Award was conferred upon Mr. Harsh Gupta from the Commerce Stream (UG, 3rd Semester). This recognition is based on statistical data, consistency and impactful use of Library resources and Services. Dr. Gitanjali Hazarika and Ms. Chanda Biswas, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Arya Vidyapeeth College presented the Award to Mr. Harsh Gupta during the ceremony. The event concluded with a thoughtful and sincere vote of thanks delivered by Lieutenant Dr. Dalimi Devi, Librarian, Arya Vidyapeeth College. She expressed her deep gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the programme.
