Women’s Cell of Arya Vidyapeeth College celebrated International women’s Day on 8th of March, 2019 through a day long program.

The day started with the inauguration of Wall Magazine of women’s cell “Punorikshan”. This year’s theme was “Role of women in National Security.” Teachers contributed with their thoughtful writings for the wall magazine. The wall magazine was being prepared by students under the guidance of Mr. Bhabesh Das, Asstt. Professor of Dept. Of Mathematics and member of Women’s Cell.

The wall magazine was being inaugurated by esteemed Lawyer of Guwahati High Court Ms. Nikita Barooah I presence of Principal Dr. Pradip Kumar Bhattacharya, teachers and students of the College.
Dr. Bhupali Sharma welcomed the august gathering in the main function.

A talk was being delivered by Ms. Nikita Barooah on “Women’s Rights and Responsibilities.” Principal Dr. Pradip Kumar Bhattacharya and convener of the Cell also have spoken on the occasion and highlighted the women’s position in Northeast region and significance of celebrating International Women’s Day. Teachers and students interacted with the speaker which made the deliberation a vibrant one.

Later on that day, Women’s Cell organised an extempore speech competition among students on Gender Issues. Number of students have taken part in the competition. The following students won the prizes:

• 1st prize – Bishal Kalita
• 2nd prize – Tania Roy
• 3rd prize – Nandita Sharma

The competition was judged by Dr. P. K. Dhar and Dr. D. M. Baruah.

At the end vote of thanks was being given by Dr. Papori Sharma, Member of Women’s Cell.
