World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022

An awareness talk was organized on the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day on 28th May, 2022 in collaboration with Lions Club Guwahati at the campus of Arya Vidyapeeth College by Girls’ Common Room Teacher in-charge Miss Jinti Moni Boro and Secretary Lupamudra Kaushick.

Two pad incinerator machines have been installed in the Girls’ Common Room and Girls’ Hostel of Arya Vidyapeeth College which was donated by Lions Club Guwahati. The inaugural speech was delivered by Dr. Chhandashree Bhuyan, Head of the Department of Zoology, Arya Vidyapeeth College. The resource persons of the programme are Smita Roy, Deputy Mayor, Deepsikha Gogoi, Collector of Guwahati Municipal Corporation, Lions Club President Kishore Saboo and Chairman of the Project Anand Aiyar. The programme was followed by a lively interactive session by the dignitaries and by the Principal of the College Dr. Pradip Kr. Bhattacharyya who stated that the awareness programme was the first program after the declaration of the college as an Autonomous Institute. This programme was attended extensively by faculty members and the students of the institute.

The awareness programme highlighted the importance of menstrual care and awareness about the social issues faced by women during menstruation and those who don’t have access to sanitary pads. The programme came to an end with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Chhandashree Bhuyan.
